Before Pesach it is a requirement to eliminate all Chametz from our possession. Halacha does allow for Chametz (e.g. liquors, mixtures, etc.) to be sold to a non-Jew when elimination is not an easy option. Arrangements for such sale can be made through our rabbinic staff using the contract below.
Your submission must be made by Thursday, April 10th, 2025 @ 5:00pm. If you, or your Chametz will be in a timezone east of New York City, please make sure to fill out this form by Tuesday, April 8th.
If it is easier you can print a paper form and scan it/email it to office@thebayit.org. (click here to download).
Forms should be mailed no later than April 3rd to ensure that we receive it before Pesach.
This year, Pesach 5785/2025, the general sale of Chametz will take place by Friday, April 11th at 10:00am. Chametz that will be used after the sale takes effect, including on Friday and Shabbat are not covered by this sale. All Chametz not included in the sale should be eaten before 10:43am on Shabbat. Whatever is not eaten must be removed from the home by 11:50am Shabbat morning. It may be destroyed on Shabbat by flushing down a toilet, or throwing it into a public garbage.
We never accept personal monetary gifts for this service. We welcome Ma’ot Chittim contributions. All funds go to Pesach needs and support needy people in our local community. You may donate online with a credit card, debit card, or via ACH when you sell your Chametz or by clicking here.
NOTE: Kitniyot (food made from legumes which are not eaten by Ashkenazim on Pesach) need not be sold. Chametz utensils should not be sold so as not to require a new Tevilah.
IMPORTANT: After submitting the form, you will receive an email from Rav Steven confirming that your form has been processed. If for any reason you do not get the confirmation email, please contact the office for assistance.
